The 2000’s brought a lot of wonderful things: MySpace, tracksuits and other questionable clothing statements. Arguably, the biggest part of the 2000’s was the music, though. Pop rock and pop punk bands were all the rage at the time. While quite a lot were successful, the “Holy Emo Trinity,” consisting of Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco and My Chemical Romance, still hold the same popularity, gaining waves of new fans.

As most know, My Chemical Romance broke up in March of 2013 after being together for 12 years. Despite the breakup, the band has remained relevant in pop culture throughout the years, even gaining 100 million views on their “Welcome To The Black Parade” video in 2019.

Many fans speculated the band would return when they turned 18 years old in order to avoid becoming  a “teenager” – in reference to a song off of their last album. It appears the band has confirmed these rumors, announcing a reunion show in LA in December with rumors of a full tour.

Obviously, many fans, like myself, are going crazy over this news, but it is also a good chance to finally dive into their music for anyone curious about dipping their toes into the ‘emo’ scene.

While it may feel intimidating to dive into all 4 albums, I do feel people should give the band a try at least once. Below is a list of my top 3 songs from the albums that really set the mood for the rest of the discography.
